Winston Henry Howerton, 81, was born in Danville, Virginia on March 17, 1941 to the late Toby and Lorana Bradley Howerton. Winston made his transition home on Thursday, February 9, 2023.
Winston was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella C. Howerton, his son, Reginald Howerton, his niece, Leavorn Burns-Holland (who of which he raised as a daughter), his granddaughter, Shalea Ella Howerton, and his brother’s, Carl, Clarence, Wilbur and Jerome Howerton.
Winston was educated in the Danville school system, where he graduated from John M. Langston High School. Winston and his family relocated to Harrisburg, PA in the late 1960’s. Winston was a very hard working young man, he worked for the “Fruehauf Trailer Corporation” for many years and retired from there in 1988. Winston then began working for “Convenco Inc.”, retiring from the company in 2003.
In 1998, Winston became an active member of the “United House Of Prayer For All People”. He worked diligently in the kitchen and his food was enjoyed by all.
Winston leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Rhonda Howerton, daughters, Denise Howerton and Juanesta Howerton-Lumpkin (Stanley Sr.), sons, Rodney Howerton and Andre Howerton Sr., step-daughter, Angela Curtis (Jerome), sister, Aweeter Howerton-Mayo. In addition, Winston is survived by his nine grandchildren, Stanley Lumpkin Jr., Ariana Lumpkin, Briana Lumpkin, Celestene Howerton, Tony Greene Jr., Sequoyah Sherrill, Andre Howerton Jr., Gabrielle Curtis, Ryan Curtis, one great-grandson, Cozmo Bransford, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.
Winston was amusing and he enjoyed socializing and listening to music. He was loved very much and he will be sorely missed.
