Willie's Journey

Willie Tomlinson Jr., son of the late Willie B. Tomlinson Sr. and the late Nannie Pearl (Poole) Tomlinson, was born on November 2, 1946, in Hickory Valley, Tennessee. Willie graduated from William Penn Senior High School in Harrisburg, PA, where he participated in the Big 33 football team, ran track & field, and was a member of the William Penn Book Club.

After high school, Willie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for over 25 years before retiring and then worked for Hershey Foods for an additional 10 years. In his leisure time, he coached the Redskins midget football team, enjoyed working on cars, and spent time landscaping and painting.

Early in life, as a young man raised and influenced by religious parents, Willie dedicated his life to Yahshua Hamashiach, also known as Jesus Christ, as his personal Savior. Willie was called by God, accepted his calling, and later became an ordained minister. He continued to preach and teach at several churches throughout Harrisburg, with Lingo Memorial Church of God in Christ being his last place of fellowship.

While residing at Spring Creek Rehabilitation Center, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, Willie Tomlinson Jr. transitioned into eternal life at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents, his ex-wife Mary E. Tomlinson, and his brothers Dwight Tomlinson and Curtis B. Tomlinson.

Irreplaceable memories will be cherished by his siblings, Tina Lewis (James) of Savannah, GA; Marcella Watlington (Glenn) of Baltimore, MD; Elton Tomlinson (Sue); Donald Tomlinson; and Brenda McKinney, all of Harrisburg, PA. His children, Christina McCoy, Erica Tomlinson, Lisa Tomlinson, and one son, David Reed, all of Harrisburg, PA, along with 14 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, family members, and friends, will also remember him dearly.

Respectfully & Lovingly Submitted by the Tomlinson Family.
