William Edward Williamson, 84 of Harrisburg, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Born in Library, PA on 01/17/1929, "Brother Bill" as many referred to him, lived most of his adult life in the Harrisburg area.
Bill was a caring man who enjoyed all of his electronic gadgets and working on the computer. He liked to eat watermelon and jellybeans, listen to Jazz, and watch Westerns or the History Channel. He was an avid golfer, prolific Little League Baseball Coach and outstanding baseball player. His musical attributes were exhibited in the church, by participating as a member of the Senior Choir and serving as its Director. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees. Bill's strong faith and devotion to Jesus' teachings were demonstrated by his continued willingness to share his thoughts and wisdom with many of us.
Brother Williamson was a 33A° degree Mason, Past Master of Chosen Friends Lodge #43 F & A M, Past Commander and Chief of Nimrod Consistory #9 Holy Royal Arch Masons, Past Potentate of Himyar Temple #17, member of Harris Chapter #26, Past District Deputy Grand Master, and Past Grand Orator of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of PA.
Bill was a proud member of the United States Air Force serving as a Chief Master Sergeant (CMSGT); a Korean War Veteran, a U.S. Air Force Reservist for over 30 year, and a life member of VFW Post #250. He worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for over 30 years before retiring from the Department of General Services, Office of Procurement.
Brother Bill was a compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He was extremely loving and proud of his daughters, Michelle J. Williamson-Ricks, of Harrisburg, PA, and Lynette M. Williamson, of Oley, PA and his granddaughter, Jamera J. Ricks of Harrisburg, PA. He is also survived by his brothers; Otis Williamson, Sr. of Hampton VA, Robert Williamson of Huber Heights, OH, and Jack Williamson of Sacramento, CA, his godson Pastor L, M. Brown, Sr. of Lancaster, PA, his goddaughter Katie Mackley, of Mechanicsburg, PA, as well as his many nieces, nephews and other friends. He is predeceased by his sister, Gloria Williamson of Library, PA and his brother Thomas A. Williamson of Portsmouth, NH.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 14, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Hooper Memorial Home, 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA, 17109. Masonic Services will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday evening. On Friday, March 15, 2013 there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 12:00 noon, followed by a church service and reception at Wesley Union A.M.E. Zion Church 2219 N. 5th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, RR#2, Box 484, Annville, PA 17003 on Monday 03/18/2013 at 10:00 am.
