Walter J. Crawford, 85, passed peacefully in Harrisburg Hospital on Friday, July 4, 2008. Mr. Crawford retired from the Federal Government, New Cumberland Army Depot as a Forklift Operator and was a United States Army Veteran. He was also a member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church and the Golden Years Ministry. Mr. Crawford leaves to celebrate his life and memory his devoted wife, Naomi Crawford of Harrisburg, one daughter Cathi Pinckney and husband Samuel of Pittsburgh, step-son Eric Chatman Sr. and wife Tonya of Harrisburg, a sister Dolores Ellis and husband Henry of Philadelphia, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held in his church, on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. with interment in William Howard Day Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 212 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109. Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. is caring for and handling Mr. Crawford's arrangements.
