Thomas James

Thomas L. James, lovingly referred to as “Thommy” by his family, entered Heaven’s gates on February 11, 2018.  Born July 16, 1954, he was the son of Alice James and the late Reginald James of Annapolis, Maryland.  Thomas graduated from Annapolis Senior High School, attended York College and graduated with a degree in Sociology.  He went on to obtain his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore.  Thomas loved working in this capacity and having the opportunity Thomas worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Corrections for 30 years.  He retired as the Special Assistant to the Secretary of Corrections.  He continued on in a consultant capacity as a therapist facilitating the counseling program for special offenders in the Cumberland County Prison.  to impact lives in a positive matter.    

Thomas was a member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a former football coach for the Linglestown Colts.  He was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Basketball Officials Association. Thomas enjoyed racquet ball, gardening, and refinishing furniture. He loved spending time with family and friends.  He was known for his big smile and kind heart.  He loved to joke, laugh, and appreciate the lighter side of life.

He leaves to celebrate his life a devoted wife, Sue Hamilton-James, four children; Lozonnah, Shalawn, Nathan (Amy) and Bryant James, four siblings Charles, Sandra, Clarence “Reesie” (Tryphina), Reginald James, one Grandson, Jerrick Griffin and a host of relatives and friends.
