Theresa Annette von Duyke, affectionately known as “Cookie”, “Mom”, “Nanny”, “G-Ma”, “Mrs. Teri”, “Tuurie” to some and “Theresa” to others, but was best known simply as “Teri”. Teri was born on September 16, 1953 in the Bronx, New York and departed this life on January 27, 2023 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Teri is predeceased by her parents, Willie John Powell and Willie Mae Powell, her brother, Jesse Powell, and her daughter, Janelle Christine Gray.
Teri is survived by her husband from Newark, DE, Tim von Duyke, her two sons from Harrisburg, PA, Kimdu Gray and Kumar Gray, her brother from the Bronx, NY, David Powell, and her 12 step-children and 9 step-grandchildren.
She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Teri grew up in the Bronx, NY, then moved to Harrisburg, PA in 1980, and lived there until she moved to Newark, DE with her husband in July of 2020. She is best known for her love for Jesus Christ, her beautiful singing voice, and her love for exquisite jewelry. She will always be loved and remembered by her family and friends as a powerful woman of God, who absolutely knew that God is faithful. And that’s why she could passionately sing all her life of the goodness of God!
