OBITUARY Thelma V. Jenkins, 73 of Harrisburg, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in Community General Hospital. Mother Jenkins as she was affectionately known was the daughter of the late Bishop Myles Meredith and Janie Britton Meredith and proceeded in death by her husband Russell R. Jenkins Sr. Thelma retired from Harrisburg State Hospital as a Nurse with more than 25 years of dedicated service and did private duty nursing for several years after. She was a lifetime member of New Day Church, Church Mother, President of the Missionary Board, Founder of The Lighthouse Outreach Ministry, and Prison Ministry just to name a few. She is survived by her children; Rose Marie and Mark T. Sr. (Bessie) Jenkins of Steelton, Russell R. Jr. (Lisa) Jenkins of Harrisburg and Michael A. Sr. (Stephanie) Jenkins of SC, siblings; Myles Jr. (Pearl), Dorsey (Carolyn) and George Meredith all of Harrisburg, Robert Lee (Rose) Meredith of NC, Patricia Chase of Camp Hill, Mary J. (Charles) Wright of MD and Carol (Marvin) Glover of Washington D.C., 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held for Mother Jenkins at Bethel Village AME Church, 1721 N. 5th Street, Harrisburg on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., viewing starting at 8:00 a.m., burial in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
