Sylvia B. Stevenson

"Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still" Sylvia B. Stevenson, 87, passed peacefully and went home to Glory on Thursday, April 15, 2009 at Harrisburg Hospital. Ms. Stevenson served as a Crossing Guard for nearly 15 years at 17th & Herr Streets for Harrisburg School District and retired from PA Fair Housing Association; she was a citizen of the world, having traveled the world as a 30 year member of the Friendship Force and she had numerous memberships with various social and political organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stevenson, daughter, Sandra Stevenson-Churchville and grandson, Josiah Stevenson. Sylvia is survived by her loving sons; Joseph (Mary), Burnie (Lynn) and Guy (Aaishah) Stevenson, 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Memorial Celebration will be held in her honor on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church at 11:00 AM. A private funeral and burial will be held by the family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you and appreciation for your kind words, thoughts and prayers shown to them during their time of transition.
