Sylvester Bitting Jr.

Sylvester Bitting Jr. 70 of Columbia, SC was the son of Sylvester Bitting Sr. and Mary E. Fulton Born May 9, 1944 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He parted his earthly home on June 16, 2014. Sylvester graduated from John Harris High School in 1962 and then joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. In 1965 he married Lucile Cray. From this union came two children Sylvester Bitting III and Yvonne T. Gaines. Sylvester loved working in his garden and was an amazing fisherman. He was a great machinist/mechanic as well. He loved The Lord and served as a Deacon at his church (First Seventh Day Adventist Church in Columbia, S.C.) and anything else he was asked to do. He was preceded in death by his parents Sylvester Bitting Sr. and Mary E. Fulton and brother James A. Fulton Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Lucile Bitting, son Sylvester Bitting III, daughter Yvonne T. Gaines, brothers Michael (Dazi) Fulton, Gary A. Fulton. Sisters Frances (Charles) Jackson and Hester Miller. An adopted daughter Gladys Kelly, four grandchildren: LaMonica Gaines, DeRon Gaines, Demetrius Gaines, Syleen Bitting, and a host of other family members including nieces, nephews, loyal and faithful friends.
