Shawnta "Shonny" Gladden

Shawnta Denise Gladden, 46, affectionately known as " Shonny” to all those who loved her was born in Harrisburg Hospital on January 16, 1978. She is the daughter of Darlene Gladden and John Griffin.

Shawnta received her formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System and went on to study music at (HACC) Harrisburg Area Community College. Shawnta was an outgoing person. She loved cooking, spending time with family and friends, and singing. To know her was to love her. Shawnta had spunk! Shawnta was very loving and cared deeply for her family and friends. She was a hospitable person and worked in the hospitality field for 20 years.

Her journey with Christ began at an early age and she joined the church choir. Of course, she always had the leading roles. Although Shonny joined several churches throughout her life, her assignment was always in the choir. Shawnta always sought the Lord throughout her life. Most recently Shawnta was a member of United Baptist Church.

On Saturday January 20,2024, Shawnta transitioned from this life to rest. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Peola Griffin, maternal grandmother Cora Porter, maternal great grandmother Ellen Pleasant, and aunt Granda Gladden.

Shawnta leaves to celebrate her life, her parents; children; Rashawn Griffin, My ‘Quasha, My ‘Esha, and My’Lasha Neal. Siblings Johndale Gladden (Kelly), and Rondell Gladden. Maternal uncles Ramon Gladden (Cindy) John Gladden, David Gladden, and maternal aunt Lucretia Gladden. Paternal aunts Patricia Griffin- Golden (Vincent), Linda Brown, and paternal uncle James Griffin (Cheryl). Nephews Tyreese and Tyrone Gladden; and nieces Janelle and Amiya Gladden.
