Ruth C. Courts, 73, Edgemont, closed her eyes peacefully on Sunday, June 6th , 2010 at Harrisburg Hospital. Ruth retired from the Department of Transportation, for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with 25 years of dedication and service. Ruth was a longtime member of First Zion Baptist Church in Edgemont; she served on the choir; Mother's Board, Pastor's Aide, as an Usher, the Ladies Auxiliary and Sunday school. She also participated with various organizations including Meals on Wheels and the Edgemont Action Center. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Maurice H. Courts Sr., her children, Sonya Woodard of Steelton, Diane White of Harrisburg, Carolyn Roy of Texas, Vincent Courts of Middletown and Kenneth Courts of Harrisburg, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, two siblings, St. Elmo Myers and Barbara Walker both of Harrisburg and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at her church, First Zion Baptist on Thursday, June 10th 2010 at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery. The family is appreciative of your love and support during their time of sorrow and bereavement. Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. is handling and caring for Mrs. Courts.
