Roszanna Gibson Stewart, 80 of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2024. Roszanna was the daughter of the late Rosetta Wise Gibson and the late James “Jimmy” Gibson, she was preceded in death by her son Vincent Stewart, her sister Janet Gibson, brothers William “Skip” Wise, Ronald “Barney” Wise and James “Jimmie” McLaughlin.
Roszanna, attended William Penn High School and later earning her GED. She was employed at Penn Harris Hotel for over 20 years, then Dauphin Manor for an additional 20 years, and was a foster mother to many children for several years.
Roszanna was a member of former Antioch Tabernacle United Holy Church of America, Inc under the pastorate of the late Dr. Clarice L. Chambers. Roszanna church activities included but not limited to the Missionary Department and Youth Ministry. Whenever there was a need in the church Roszanna was a willing vessel to help, cleaning the church edifice, serving food or assisting in the kitchen and helping with the food pantry.
As a Missionary she visited the nursing homes giving out the Daily Breads and singing and praising the Lord along with the residence as the children would sing and give out gifts. Roszanna was also an intricate part of the founding of the Antioch Children's Church Ministry working alongside Elder Linda Green. The Children's Church was founded in 1989 and hosted over 200 children during Children's Church ministry Friday to Sunday weekends. Roszanna loved children and enjoyed sharing the love of the Lord with them. Roszanna love for children expanded over a decade into her personal life as she was a foster parent for hundreds of children who affectionately called her “Nanny”. Her love for foster children also gifted her the opportunity to adopt one of her foster children “Moss”. Rozanna love for children was so large, if she had the space in her home she would have adopted all of her foster children.
She enjoyed reading the Bible and participating in prayer groups. She also enjoyed reading “Our Daily Bread” and singing gospel songs around her home. In her spare time, she worked on word search puzzles and spending a little time on games of chance at the casino.
Roszanna leaves to cherish her memory her loving sons, Alfred “Peter” Stewart who was her caretaker and her youngest son, Moss Williams Stewart, her sister Treena McLaughlin, grandchildren; Shyron Stewart, Alfred “Pierre” Stewart, Andrey “Drey” Martin, and Michelle “Nic” Moore. She also leaves her loving great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Please keep the Stewart Family in your thoughts and prayers during their time of bereavement.
