Ronald M. Lawson 61 of Sweetbrier Drive passed peacefully at home May 25 with his family by his side. Ronnie was a retired driver of 26 years for Yellow Freight and a Vietnam War veteran as well as a member of the Anointed Church of God in Christ. He was President of the Edgemont Community Improvement Association, a Teamster member of Local 771, Trustee of the Buffalo Soldiers motorcycle club, one of the first Black License Brick Masons in the Harrisburg area ,member of the American Radio Relay League, Sgt. Of Arms for the Harrisburg Chapter of the NAACP, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and member of the Southern Poverty Law Center in addition to being an avid philanthropist.
"Lawman" as he was sometimes known was preceded in death by his parents James and Catherine Elizabeth Lawson, Brother Richard and twins Judy and Janet Lawson. Amongst the many who will mourn his passing will be his wife Louatha Lawson, children Karl Washington, Veronica G. Connor (Jayson), Erika D. Lawson all of Harrisburg; step-children Anita Parham of Maryland, Lucious Parham Jr. of Erie, PA, Darrio Parham of Lancaster,; siblings James Lawson of GA, Stanley Lawson of Harrisburg, Carolyn Mills of Harrisburg and Gary Lawson of Iowa with a host of relatives and friends.
Ronnie's services will be in the First Spirit Filled Baptist Church Thursday May 29th at 11AM with viewing at 9.His final resting place will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
