Robert Lee Patterson, 66, the son of Dorothy L. Patterson and the late Theodore R. Patterson Sr. was born on September 13, 1956, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On Thursday May 18th, 2023, at his home in Richmond Virginia he exchanged mortality for immortality entering eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his loving father, Theodore R. Patterson Sr.; his brother, Theodore R. Patterson Jr.; his sister, Diane A. Patterson-Staff; his GrandParents, Nettie and George Strand; his uncle, Herbert Strand.
Robert as a young child accepted the Lord and was Baptized by the late Reverend C.L. Henderson Sr. at the Greater Zion Baptist Church at its prior location at 4 th and Reily Street in Harrisburg Pa. He was active in all the Youth Ministries along with the Youth Choir. He was a graduate of the Class of 1974 from Harrisburg High School. Robert is a Veteran of the Gulf War (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) where he served Honorably in the Army Air National Guard for 20 years. His experience in the Military played a very important role in his life. He frequently pointed out that the Military taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He would often explain to loved ones how these values contributed to his success.
Robert pursued a career in Food Services. He was a Sous Chef for the Leaders Nursing Home in Harrisburg for 20 plus years. His success in this field can be directly attributed to his work ethic, natural cooking skills, and his mentor, the late Mr. Marlon Hicks. Robbie enjoyed detailing cars, baseball, fishing, deer hunting, playing pool and most of all cooking. On September 29 th , 1990,
Robbie and Marva Banks were united in marriage.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marva Patterson; his children, Lakeysha Simpson, Dontez Patterson-Scott, George Parris, grandchildren, Key’Ron Plummer, Joshua Moore Jr., and King Moore, Justice Parris, his siblings; Norman and sister-in-law (Mary), Brian K Patterson of Gardena Ca, his aunt, Geraldine Avery of Middletown, his uncles, George Strand Jr. (Paulett) of Williamstown New Jersey; William Strand (Sylvia) of New Castle, Delaware; Brother-Law, Jerome Staff; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving and devoted companion and caregiver Pamela Adkins, and a host
of other relatives and friends.
