Robert A. Jones was born on Monday, February 11, 1935, in Harrisburg, PA to the union of the late Samuel R. Jones and Frances McCullough Jones.
Robert was united in holy matrimony to Grace Lester Jones on May 7, 1954, and they remained married for 66 years and their union was blessed with one child, Robert “Bobby” Jones Jr.
Robert entered the United States Air Force on January 1954, completed training as an Aircraft Mechanic and eventually becoming a Crew Chief in 1956. He served with distinction and was honorably discharged as an Airman Second Class in November 1957.
Robert was the product of the Steelton School District. During his working career he was a sanitation worker with the Department of Waste Management. He also served as maintenance supervisor for an apartment complex.
In his spare time, he enjoyed looking at the news, doing crossword puzzles and loved working on cars. When he was younger, he loved to go fishing and hunting.
Robert joined Cornerstone Church of the Living God formerly Highland Street Church under the Pastorate of Elder Kelly L. Deeds. He served on the Deacon board.
On Friday, February 24, 2023, Robert A. Jones at the age of 88 years, peacefully transitioned into eternal life. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, Samuel Robert Jones, and William “Skuggy” Jones, three sisters, Rose Marie Jones, Julie Lee Mitchell, and Frances Marie McMillion.
Precious memories of him will be cherished by his son, Robert “Bobby” Jones Jr. of Harrisburg, PA, his grandchildren, Bobby Jones, Jonea Jones, Sade Jones, Grace Jones, Ty Jones and Jamie Jackson. His brothers and sisters; John Alexander Jones, Middletown, PA, Annie Thelma Deeds, Bressler, PA, Kathleen Edna “Toot” Hill, Steelton, PA, Mary Elizabeth Dorothy “Dutchess” Jones, Harrisburg, PA, Gerald “Crunch” Jones, Tucson, AZ, Ruth Audrey “Midget” Jones, Steelton, PA, Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Watkins (Aubrey), Harrisburg, PA, James Nathaniel Jones (Angelia), Washington, D.C., and Thomas Aquilla Jones (Varetta) Jones, Harrisburg, PA, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was loved dearly while he was here and will be sadly missed.
