Paulette P. McClaire

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Paulette Patricia McClaire (nee Clarke), aged 70, on October 3, 2023. She was born on July 29, 1953, in Sheffield, Westmoreland, Jamaica, to the late Hubert Clarke and Myrtle Vacciana. Paulette was a woman of distinction, dedicated to both her education and her profession. She attended Sheffield All Age School, Little London High School, MICO Teacher’s College, and Harrisburg Area Community College. Her career as a Medical Secretary at Harrisburg Hospital and a Certified Nursing Assistant across the Harrisburg area spanned many years, endearing her to colleagues and patients alike. Her professionalism, dedication, and no-nonsense approach left an indelible mark. Beyond her professional life, Paulette found joy in knitting, cooking, traveling, and the occasional visit to the casino. She is survived by her siblings: Glenis Clarke (New York), Patrick Garwood (Harrisburg), Leroy Garwood (Harrisburg), and Annette Garwood (Harrisburg); her children: Sian A. Rose (Harrisburg), Judi-Ann Covert (Mark, Houston), Dorel L. McClaire (Loreal, Houston), and Kevin D. McClaire (Harrisburg); her grandchildren: Scott Sloane, Adrie Rose, Christian Covert, Serena Covert, and Cameron Covert; and her great-grandson, August Sloane. Paulette was predeceased by her parents, Hubert Clarke and Myrtle Vacciana. Paulette's absence will leave a profound void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever be cherished. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 1 PM at Hooper Memorial Home of Harrisburg, PA. A funeral and burial service will take place in Paulette’s hometown of Sheffield at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made in Paulette’s name to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Paulette's legacy of caring and compassion will continue through these contributions.
