Oscar "Buddy" Daniels, 94 of Harrisburg, passed peacefully at Homeland Center on Saturday, January 8, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Alice Daniels and his wife of over 60 years, LeGree Daniels. Oscar was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a Deacon, a Railroad Porter and a Boxer. He later became a Pennsylvania Boxing Commissioner and was a member of the Negro Baseball League. Oscar had strong work ethics including his service on the Harrisburg Board of Education, working at the PA Insurance Commission, with Governor Dick Thornburg and he later retired from the Dauphin County Court House. He was an avid bowler and a member of Chosen Friends, Lodge # 43. He leaves to celebrate his life and memory his daughter Gwendolyn Joyce Daniels of Philadelphia, 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a special niece, Doreen Davis of Florida, a host of other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 212 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg at 12 Noon, viewing at 11:00 a.m., with burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens
