Nora L. Alexander was born on January 28, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Will and Essie Pattillo. She lived a life defined by unwavering dedication, resilience, and love.
Blessed with an incredible voice, Nora’s musical talent was recognized early, earning her a scholarship that spoke to her remarkable gift. Though life led her down a different path, her devotion as a mother, daughter, and compassionate caregiver remained at the heart of her journey.
Nora began her professional career as a medical assistant at Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Driven by a passion for helping others, she furthered her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). In this role, she excelled at the State Hospital in Harrisburg, earning the respect and gratitude of colleagues and patients alike. Her nursing career spanned over 35 years of dedicated service. Nora eventually retired early to assume her most selfless role—caring for her aging mother.
Faith was a cornerstone of Nora’s life. She was a devoted member of Grace United Methodist Church, where her son, Rev. Anthony Alexander, served as pastor for several years. She found joy in the simpler pleasures of life—whether enjoying games of chance or marveling at the elegance of thoroughbred horses crossing the finish line.
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center, Nora passed away peacefully at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and service. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted son, Rev. Anthony Alexander, and her cherished daughter, Noralyn Smith. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Jeanette Alexander, Tameka Hughes, Cirea Alexander, Deborah Haas, La’rese Alexander, Deidre Melanesa, and Skylar Smith, along with a host of beloved relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc..
