NaLisa Vaughan

January 15, 1966 — December 9, 2023

Emblem

NaLisa Vaughan was born January 15, 1966, in Harrisburg Pennsylvania to Charles Alfred Washington Sr. and to the late Vernetta “Elsie” Prather. She was educated in the Catholic School system graduating from Bishop McDevitt high school.

During her working career she was employed at Harrisburg Hospital as a nursing assistant, retiring with 15 years of service.

NaLisa attended Mount Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on security detail, which she took very seriously. She would call the Pastor’s home at 2 AM to let them know she was getting ready to have someone’s car towed for parking in the parking lot.

Lisa as she was affectionately called had a beloved personality, strong character, and was passionate about life and her opinion; and would tell you “you know I’m very intelligent”.

She loved her family, friends, and The Washington RedSkins/Commanders. She was known throughout the neighborhood for feeding the hungry and giving shelter to those in need.  When she saw a project that needed to be completed her motto was “you have to be committed to whatever you say you are going to do.”

Lisa was a Zythophile (a person who liked beer) and would let everyone know that she never messed with drugs, and or alcohol, but she enjoyed her beer, playing cards, and eating crabs.

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg Pennsylvania, the Good Lord peacefully welcomed Lisa into His arms.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Vernetta Prather; an uncle, Leslie Prather; an uncle-in-kind, Alton Ceasar.

NaLisa also leaves to celebrate her life and hold precious memories of her, a son, Erick (Nuk) Jerode Prather; a daughter Miracle Prather; her adopted mother, Regina Ceasar, four grandchildren; Erick Jerode Prather, Jr., NaYquan Prather, Enyiah Prather, Kima Ni Prather, a brother, Charles Alfred Washington Jr., cousin Adrian Prather (Andrea), her Baltimore Maryland family that she held dear to her heart; Uncles-in-kind, Jeffrey and Terris Ceasar; Sister-in-kind, Tracy Ceasar, Aunts-in-kind Connie Wilkins, Mamie Wilkins, Mattie Beasley and Frederica Ceasar, two godsons, Leonard and Miles Evans; great-god-daughter, Lenox Evans; Precious her pet turtle; her fish, and a host of other relatives and friends.
