Emblem

Monica Pierce-Whitmoyer of Harrisburg passed away peacefully on September 21, 2022. Born August 13, 1969, to Marie Pierce and Darryl Barbee, Monica was fifty-three when God called her home.

After graduating from Susquehanna Township High School, Monica enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as an Aviation Mechanist Mate before being honorably discharged in 1991 after three years of loyal service. At the time of her passing, she worked as a Data Input Specialist at Diakon Lutheran Ministries, which filled her desire to help others in any way she could.

Monica loved to travel. If not at home, you could easily find her in Atlantic City or Las Vegas, showing off her skills at any Hold 'Em table. She loved her sports as well, with her love of the Washington Commanders (formally the Redskins) just barely trumping her love of NASCAR. While never the person that you would leave in charge of watching the grill at a cookout, Monica appreciated a good meal. She loved being treated to a bloody steak at Longhorn Steakhouse as much as she loved biting into a candy apple from the Farm Show.

Monica, or "Mot Mot" to her beloved uncle, is survived by her husband Timothy; her daughters, Dana and Jackie; her stepson, Troy; her brother, Michael, her gaggle of seven grandchildren; and an infinite number of loving family and friends.
