Mattie Mae Barber

Mattie M. Barber, 89 of Harrisburg, PA passed peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 surrounded by her family and close friends. She is the daughter of the late Samuel Bowden and Ethel Moore.

Mattie retired from Blue Shield as an Accounting Clerk and was a proud member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church serving on the Senior Usher Board. She was well known for her chicken pot pie.  She loved cooking, feeding people, reading the word, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Mattie leaves her husband of 72 years James Barber, children; James, Lavern, Jackie, Letitia, Daryl (Kelly), Lisa, and Steve, 9 grand, 22 great and 7 great-great-grand-children and a host of relatives and friends. Services and burial are limited to the immediate family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to those who provided care for our mother including Residential Hospice Care,  family health care workers including Brittney Barber, Wanda Hardy, Kim Barber, and Shawn Neeley and a very special thank you to Kelly Barber who never left her side.
