Martha R. Bullock

Martha Ruth Bullock was born on December 15, 1934, in Macclesfield, North Carolina, to Deacon Russell and Martha Wooten. After being educated in the public schools, she met and married the love of her life, Edward T. Bullock. To that union were born three children, two boys and one girl.

Martha and her husband Edward migrated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1956 with their three children for better life opportunities. Her oldest sister, Gladys, was already living in Harrisburg. She worked at the Dauphin County Home for two years and then obtained employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the Department of Transportation. She retired from PennDOT after 34 years of faithful service.

Having received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age, she joined St. Paul’s Baptist Church upon her arrival in Harrisburg and was a faithful member for 50 years. She served in the choir and the Drama Ministry, participating in many of the church’s productions during her early years. She later united with Baptist Fellowship Church, where she was a founding member. She continued her love of music by singing in the choir.

Martha also loved gardening, cooking, and spending time at her beach home in Delaware. Her joy was inviting family and friends to enjoy the home with her and her husband. In a recent church celebration for “Our Seasoned Saints,” when asked if there was something she wished she had done, she said she would have loved to be a professional singer and actress.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Martha Ruth Bullock, at the age of 89, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal life. She was predeceased by her parents, Deacon Russell and Martha Wooten, her husband, Edward T. Bullock, and her siblings Gladys, Louise, Sadie, Cleo, and Eddie. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jerry, Ray, and Brenda Bullock, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, along with a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. 

Services will be held at Baptist Fellowship Church, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 9:00am visitation, service 10:00am. Burial 12:00 pm Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
