"There is a place; I have been told, beyond an open gate... " Loraine Hosea Smith entered into a peaceful eternal rest on January 14, 2011 in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. She was born July 19, 1928 in Birmingham, Alabama, the eldest of five children born to Hosea Alfonso and Leah Adele Lee. Loraine graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Detroit, Michigan and retired from the City of Detroit Housing Department in 1982. She was a member of the Greater Queen Esther Grand Chapter of the Eastern Stars in Detroit, Michigan, a member of AFSCME Local 98 and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Beverly Alfonso Lee, Charles Virgil Lee and one sister Sarah Frances Kittrell. She is survived by her sister Rose Marie Roots, one son, Lawrence A. Smith and his wife Sharon; a daughter Aleda H. McNeill; three grandchildren Aisha Evans and her husband Benny; Maresa McNeill and Maya Cole and her husband Rodwell and two great-granddaughters Santana Toro and Addison Cole and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, 4321 Vicksburg Street, Detroit, Michigan 48204 and on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1106 Capital Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102 at 7:00 p.m. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society and/or the Alzheimer's Association
