Lilly Ofield Jones, 99, of Boas Street, Harrisburg peacefully passed away on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born in Gibson, LA on February 24, 1909, daughter of the late Rev. Enoch and Lillian LaGarde. She was a graduate of the Rowland Reed School of Beauty Culture, was a retired Beautician, who owned Lilly's Beauty Salon for more than 30 years.
Lilly was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with the Nurses Guild and was a Sunday School teacher. In her leisure, she enjoyed reading, sewing and gardening.
Lilly was the widow of James R. Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Violet Alridge and Elizabeth Johnson. She leaves to celebrate her life, her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Doris Lester, of Harrisburg; her grandchildren, Harold Lester, Jr. and his wife Laverne, Thomas Lester, and Jewell Lester; her great grandchildren, Howard, Dominique, Jamar and Jennifer; and her great great grandchild, Asia.
Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc., 3532 Walnut Street, with viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial in the William Howard Day Cemetery.
