L. Eugene Anderson, son of Eugene and Rosalee Cheatham Anderson, was born February 6, 1941 in Bluefield, West Virginia.
L. Eugene, affectionately known to family and friends as L. Gene, was educated in the public school system of Bluefield. In 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Rita Ann Dodson and they moved to Brooklyn, NY. From this union they had two sons, Marlon and Scottie. L. Gene was a loving husband and father. In New York, he worked as a New York City Narcotics Officer to provide for his young family. In 1975, new career opportunities led the family to Harrisburg, PA where they settled and raised their sons to adulthood.
L. Gene enjoyed family gatherings and was always the life of the party! He also enjoyed playing card games and Scrabble with family and friends. He loved to laugh and have fun. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching sports with his sons.
L. Gene was known for always remembering to send birthday and other cards to family and friends. He always reminded us to “Keep the Faith!” This was his favorite saying and it was written on every card. L. Gene was raised in the church and believed in Jesus Christ. Although L. Gene was not a member of a church, he enjoyed the television ministry of Dr. Fred Price.
On October 5, 2021, L. Gene passed away peacefully at UPMC Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, PA. L. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rosalee Anderson. L. Gene leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Marlon Anderson (Karen) and Lynnwood Scott Anderson.
