Leroy Reid

Life will never be the same as we bid farewell to our loving cousin, and someone we once knew, Leroy Reid

Leroy Reid was born on June 15, 1954. The only child of the late Dorothy Reid of Brooklyn, New York. When Dorothy had to go into the hospital, she asked her sister-in-law Louise Reid, if she did not return home, if she would accept responsibility and take care of Leroy. Unfortunately, Dorothy passed away in the hospital and never returned home. Leroy then lived with his aunt Louise Reid until she went into a nursing home, declined, and passed away.

After the passing of his aunt Louise, Leroy had relocated to Harrisburg, PA with his cousins, where he was embraced and surrounded by Avery Waddell, the late Sannita Waddell, and the late Avery Waddell Jr., for several years. Leroy was then welcomed and resided with his cousins Darraine and Quayzell Jones for the next 15 years until his passing on December 31, 2023, in the comfort of his own home.

With all of life’s challenges and his disability, Leroy loved the Lord, all music, singing, dancing, and spending time with his family. His two favorite hobbies were watching and dancing to the movie "Grease", and playing cards by himself or with others. Leroy had a beautiful and gentle spirit, a smile as bright as the sun, and a contagious laugh. Anyone who met Leroy was filled with joy and left at peace.

Leroy leaves to cherish his beautiful memories, a host of cousins and friends. Although it may be hard to say goodbye, we will hold him close to our hearts which he touched one way or another. 

There will be no Repass following the service. The burial will be hold on January 12th at 11 a.m. , at Shoops Cemetery, 4450 Locust Ln, Harrisburg, PA 17109
