Lakemba Z. Wright

"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." -Zephaniah 3:17

Ms. Lakemba Zakia Wright, the youngest child of Malik James Wright and Mrs. Ear Levius Drayton-Wright, was born in Florence, South Carolina on Tuesday, February 10th, 1976.

"Kemba," as she was affectionately called by family members and friends, received her formal education in the public schools of Florence County, South Carolina.

She graduated from Wilson High School (Tiger Nation), Florence, SC, in the Class of 1994. "Kemba" continued her education at the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), where she received her Associate in Arts in Human Services in the Class of 2018. Graduating with her Bachelors degree was a lifelong goal which she accomplished when she walked across the stage on November 7th, 2021 at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), receiving her Bachelors Degree in Social Work in the Class of 2021.

“Kemba,” worked in partnership with her sister, Latoya Willis, serving for years as a the Director of Business Operations.

"Kemba" accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at the age of fifteen at the Pentecostal United Apostolic Church in Florence, South Carolina. Under the tutelage of Apostle Fred Graham, she was then filled with the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. Later in life, "Kemba" relocated to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she united with the membership of the Bridge of Faith International Ministries. There, she rededicated her life to Christ and served faithfully and wholeheartedly under the leadership of Pastor Sheila D. Harris and the late Bishop Larry A. Harris. Bridge of Faith was where she served as a choir member, armorbearer and dedicated her time to the ministry of hospitality. Nothing could compare to the joy she had when listening to the word of God through her Pastor and late Bishop; this is where she learned to not only be a hearer, but a doer of the word.

"Kemba" was strong and determined. She loved everyone with her whole heart. She would give the shirt off her own back, while fussing in love. She loved her family, but all it really took to feel like family was one interaction with her.

In her leisure, she loved to read her bible and sing hymns. She was the arts and crafts guru. If you needed anything DIY (Do It Yourself) she was who you called! She loved to travel, shop, eat, cook, and spend time with her family.

On Saturday, November 13th, 2021, "Kemba" transitioned into eternal life in the peace and love of her home in Oberlin, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death only by her two parents.

She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter, Zaeydah Wright; her sisters, Angela (Dennis) Smith, of Florence, South Carolina and LaToya (Charles) Willis, of Oberlin, Pennsylvania; her nieces, Alexius Mckune, of Oberlin, Pennsylvania, Sierra Smith, of Florence, South Carolina, and Dominque Willis, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her nephews, Kion Wright, of Middletown, Pennsylvania, Jachai McKune, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Cameron Smith, of Florence, South Carolina, and Zaire Willis, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her lifelong friends, Vadia Hunter, and Angela King, both of Florence South Carolina; her God daughter, Tisheria Days, of Florence, South Carolina, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Social distancing and wearing of mask are required at ALL times, even if fully vaccinated.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I just met Kemba last month when I was visiting my sister Samyra. I helped her to work on her Capstone homework question and wondered later how she did. I was so shocked and saddened when my sister told me the news. For that brief moment of conversation I felt her joy, spirit and zest for life.
Blessings of peace to all.
