Kesia Alston

Kesia Alston transitioned into eternal life on November 18, 2024, at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Portia Slaughter Jones and Frank Jones Sr. Uncle Joey Slaughter, sister Roxanne Jones, and nephew Richard Steptoe. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, New York in 1981. After graduation she attended Crown Business School for business management and Allen’s School for Nursing. In 2002 Kesia took a leap of faith relocating her five kids from New York to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to be closer to family. Another leap of faith in 2009 allowed Kesia to open Jeanie’s House, a shelter for men, misplaced from the mission where they were provided many amenities including a fully furnished bedroom, laundry & prescription med services as well as two cooked meals a day. In 2016, Kesia started a new endeavor attending Empire Beauty School. In 2022 she made a return to the nursing field by obtaining a position at Brookdale Senior Living as a Resident Activities Coordinator. Here, she reignited her passion in making seniors quality of life better.

Kesia dedicated many years of her life to serving as a member to various clubs in the community including sitting as the Keystone Past Daughter Ruler Council Queen, member of The Daughters of Cyrenus Temple, President of the American Legion Post #733 Youth Soul Steppers, and Flossy Possey member. She also started her own club being the CEO/Founder of Little Lillies Steelton Elks. Being apart of countless clubs helped Kesia to form lifelong friendships and contribute to the community she loved so much.

Known for her impeccable style and vibrant personality, Kesia was a fashionista at heart. She took great joy in helping others, sharing love and laughter with everyone around her. Her presence was always accompanied by a warm smile, a hearty laugh, and often a full plate of good food—nourishing both body and soul. She was truly the matriarch of her family, a guiding light who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kesia is survived by her children, Darryl Jones, Tyler Rainey, Herbert Rainey IV, Courtney Rainey, and Jazmin Rainey; and her cherished grandchildren, Caleb Rainey, Ja'Mell Jones, Jeremiah Kiser, Camdyn Rainey, Ariane Rainey, Josiah Jones, Colby Taylor, Jalen LoLo, and Herbert Rainey V.
