Obituary
Katie Mae Williams McClendon
Sister Katie Mae Williams McClendon was one of seven children born to the union of late Reverend George and Ruth (Key) Williams. On the glorious morning of May 3, 2019 she went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, from the UPMC Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Katie was married at an early age to Cleveland (Cleve) McClendon. She later moved to Harrisburg where her son, Kasahn McClendon was born. She completed her formal education at OIC (Opportunities Industrialization Center) and the Dauphin County Technical School in the late seventies.
Sister Katie was a true servant. A gift from God to serve his people in various fields of employment. She worked at various times as a Home Health Aide, where her quality of care will always be remembered; at the Dauphin County Technical School as an automotive assistant teaching in their automotive technology program; in housekeeping for Highmark Blue Shield and the Harrisburg Hospital from which she retired in May 2016 after suffering a major aneurysm. Her last act of service was assisting in maintaining God’s house, by cleaning her home church.
Having accepted the Lord as her personal Savior, Sister Katie united with the fellowship of the Lingo Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Benjamin J. Ravenel, Sr. She continued in her service of the Lord under the current pastor, Ronald D. Holton, Sr.
Sister Katie’s favorite pastimes were listening to gospel music, reading especially the bible, watching western movies, and playing her guitar. She was a phenomenal woman; beautiful, extremely funny and mischievous. She loved her family unconditionally.
Sister Katie was preceded in death not only by her parents, but also by her sisters Alice Gammage, Betty Crankfield, and her brother George L. Williams, Jr. She leaves to cherish precious memories of their lives together, her son Kasahn Lovell McClendon; her sister Georgia Covington, her brother, James P. L. Williams all of Harrisburg, PA; and her brother Nathaniel Williams of Calvary, GA. Three grandchildren; RaShawn McClendon, Kiara McClendon, and Giannie McClendon; two great-grandchildren Saniah Love Newkirk, and Kyleah Champ all of Harrisburg, PA and the Lingo Memorial Church of God in Christ Family.
