Kathryn Peterkin Rogers was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 26, 1936 to the late Alexander Peterkin and Annie Bradshaw-Peterkin. She was educated in the NC school system. Kathy graduated from Eastern District H.S. and attended Hunter College. She worked as a secretary for various city agencies.
Kathy met her former husband Joseph Rogers and they were married on New Yearâs eve in 1960. They had two sons from this union; Yussef Bilal Rogers (September 4, 1961) and Ghazi Ahmed Rogers (June 30, 1974).
In 1966 she joined the NYC Police Department and retired from there in 1986. She decided to leave Roosevelt, NY and relocate to Virginia Beach on Thanksgiving Day in 1995, there she volunteered and worked with various organizations. She was a long standing member of the NAACP.
Aunt Ta Ta as she was affectionately known to her family loved jazz music, dancing the slop, knitting, and crossword puzzles. She was a social butterfly. She enjoyed life to the fullest and did things her way

Kathy departed this life on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons; Yussef Bilal and Ghazi Ahmed Rogers, daughter in law, Lacenda Rogers, A grandson, Gideon David-Amir, who she adored, two brothers; Alexander Jr. and Ali Peterkin who preceded her in death, three sisters; Cynthia (Virginia) Lugeria (NY) Denise (NY) two brother in-laws Milton and Randy, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and a special friend, of sixty years Joan Jeffers (Virginia).
