I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthen Me” Philippians 4:13
Kara “Peachie” Michelle Jones was a caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She gained her wings and joined her Heavenly Father on January 2, 2024, in her home, at the age of 62 after a long fight with Cancer. Kara’s fighting spirit helped fuel her to fight all the way until the end.
Kara was born February 27th, 1961, to the late Mary Jane Dunbar and Mott Smith. Born and raised in Harrisburg, Kara graduated from Susquehanna Township High School in 1979. Not long after graduating high school, Kara began working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the HR department; she retired in 2019.
Kara was a faithful member of Reclaim The Streets Church International (RTSCI). She was an ordained minister and Elder in the church. She was a true example of a God fearing woman. She had such a nurturing spirit and became a mother figure to many. She was a listening ear and counselor to many when they needed honest, Spiritual, and God led advice. Kara was a true powerhouse for the Lord.
Kara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She wed her Husband, Bishop William Jones Jr. in 1985. Together they had 3 children, William C. Jones (Michelle), Shaun Jones and Patrice Jones, all of Harrisburg, Pa. They had 4 grandchildren Wyatt, Destiny, Joshua and Christian; and 2 bonus grandchildren Kyla and Avery. Kara’s love for her family was unmeasurable and she always believed that family comes first. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had the most caring and giving spirit and she would do anything for her family. And she always had a wise piece of advice to share. She taught her children and grandchildren, by example, how to be strong, loving, caring, humble, wise, and prayerful.
Kara enjoyed the closeness and bond she had with her siblings. She was the youngest of 7 children and she loved each of them dearly. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Jerrilyn Cofield and 1 brother, Theran Dunbar. She is survived by 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Terrian Lawrence, Phillip Dunbar, Gilinda Cousar and Jeffrey Dunbar (Valerie) all of Harrisburg, Pa. And a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She always talked about how their mother instilled in them the importance of family and the power it had if they stuck together.
Kara’s favorite thing to do was cook. If you knew her, then you knew she was one of the best cooks there was. She was always offering someone something whether it was a snack, meal or baked good. She enjoyed bringing people together to fellowship over a meal. She also enjoyed going to the movies, shopping, and going out to eat. Also, she enjoyed doing things for others, whether she knew you or not. She was a person that you could trust and depend on. She was an all-around genuine and good person.
Kara would want her family and friends to remember to always trust God and allow him to guide your every step. She was a vessel put on this earth by God to bring people closer to him. She has touched so many people throughout her life in her own special ways. She was truly one of a kind and she will forever be our guardian angel.
