OBITUARY
JUSTIN CRAIG "GATOR" WALLER, son of the late Robert C. "Pickle" Waller, Sr. and Margaret A. Waller, was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on December 15, 1943 and was called home, by our Lord on December 23, 2008. Justin is also preceded in death by his youngest brother, Thomas A. "Pickle" Waller, Sr.
CRAIG, as fondly known to his Harrisburg family and friends; but, "GATOR" to his Fayetteville, NC family friends, received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School System. He enlisted in the US Army, May 17, 1961; and on June 16, 1973, Justin was joined in holy matrimony to Barbara Jean Johnson. After serving 2 terms in the Vietnam War and over twenty years in the military, Craig retired in Fayetteville, NC in 1981 and made that his home of 40 plus years.
"GATOR" was a member of the following social clubs: Professional Social Club, Dirty Dozen Social Club, Traveling Twelve Social Club. Although these clubs are designed primarily for membership socialization, they also raised funds for the needy families and students scholarships. The Professional Social Club membership is made up of primarily military retirees. Now, most people around Fayetteville remember "Gator" from his involvement in Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6018 and its auxiliary, The Military Order Of The Cootie. He is a life member of both
.
On the VFW side of the house, Gator has held the position of Post Surgeon, member of the Posts Entertainment Committee, President of the Posts Bowling League, Youth Activity Committee and counsel of the Posts Junior Boys Organization. During the 80's and 90's , Gator was one of the hottest DJ's in Fayetteville. He was very instrumental in keeping the social arm of VFW Post 6018 strong. He was among the BEST. He was also very good at Lip Syncing. On the Cooties side, he has served in several positions, from junior position to the top in VFW 6018 Pup Tent 78, Military Oder of Cooties. That position is Seam Squirrel (Commander of Cooties). His love of VFW and the Cooties can never be questioned.
JUSTIN CRAIG "GATOR" WALLER leaves to cherish his memory and mourn their loss, wife, Barbara Jean Waller, of Linglestown, Pa; two brothers: Robert C. "Chris" Waller, Jr., of Grantville, Pa; Clinton Howard "Bubby" Waller and wife Esther, of Albuquerque, NM; and one sister, with whom he resided and was his caretaker, Valerie L. Waller of Harrisburg, Pa; aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and a multitude of friends, in Harrisburg, Pa and Fayetteville, NC.
His services will be in the Hooper Memorial Home Inc. 3532 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109 Sunday December 28th at 3PM with viewing at 2PM. Craigs interment will be in Indaiantown Gap National Cemetery.
