Johnny has gone home in body, but lives and laughs on in my heart. His larger-than-life personality continues to shine and replace my heartache with a wave of memories. I can feel his spirit all around me strengthening me and providing me love……
John Lawrence Knighton Jr. of Chicago, IL. by way of Harrisburg, PA went home to Jesus on September 18, 2021 at the age of 70. John was born one of five children to the late John L. Knighton Sr. and Dorothy Azeela Knighton January 3, 1951. John attended elementary school and high school in the Chicago Public School System. He was
a graduate of DuSable High School. He attended Northern Illinois University and Kendall College. He resided in Atlanta, GA from 1974 to 1999. In 1999, he transferred with his job Gulf South to Middletown, PA. He was currently employed with the US Postal Service in Harrisburg, PA.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Nicholas Knighton and his sister Bessie Knighton. John leaves to celebrate his life and memory, a brother Willie Knighton III, (Faith), sister, Alexis Christian. His daughter, Keturah Medlock, (Raphiel); two step daughters, (Trammell) and Ashley Thomas (Cedric); and a Niece/daughter Erika Hall Natalie Christian. Five grandchildren, Semaj Mitchell, Jona Mitchell, Jaia Medlock, Alexander Hall, and Erin Hall. Two great grandchildren, Ayden Mitchell, and Elani Mitchell. A loving mother-in-law, Annie Pearl West.
Great Niece/daughter Nakiia Hudgens, Nephews Willie Knighton the IV, Jonathan Christian, Walter Griffin. Nieces, Sinnamone Knighton and Dororthy Griffin. Special dedication to all the cousins, Brenda, Lance, Elbert, Marcus, Taylor, and David Ingram; Jeannette and Angelique Moore; Felicia and Montell Burnette and a host of others.
The family is requesting that you follow all COVID -19 protocol at the church including; social distancing, hand sanitizing and mask wearing during the viewing, funeral and burial.
