Joanna Williams

Joanna Williams, the daughter of Thomas E. Williams and Bertha M. Brown Williams was born on Thursday April 16, 1953 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She departed peacefully from this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 28, 2021.

Joanna received her formal education at the former John Harris High School in Harrisburg. She continued her education at Cheyney University Of Pennsylvania and received her bachelor's degree. Upon graduation, she was employed at Pennsylvania State University as an Assistant Director of Admissions. After 31 years of employment, and receiving numerous awards and certificates, Joanna retired.

She was a member of The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church and served on the usher board. Joanna was proud to be an active and dedicated member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading and crocheting the most beautiful blankets. She would crochet a blanket for everyone she knew and cared for. But most of all, Joanna cared for her family, especially her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt JoJo. Aunt JoJo loved them all as though they were her own children.

Joanna is now in heaven rejoicing with her parents. Her two brothers, Thomas E. Williams Jr. and Alfred H. Williams. Four sisters, Vivian O. Williams Shelly, Winnie L. Williams Anthony, Victoria Williams and Helen Williams. Surviving is her sister Leslie Williams Opara and brother Jacob Williams Sr (Veronica), along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
