Joan Marie Thomas

"Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow ~ don't walk behind me, I may not lead ~ Just walk beside me and be my friend." Joan Marie (Moore) Thomas, 67, entered into God's eternal care on Monday, October 13, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born April 9, 1941 in Plainville, Connecticut to the late Johnson & Barbara Moore. Joan was preceded in death by her son Robert (Robby) Thomas and a brother Robert Moore. Joan's earlier years were spent lovingly in Plainville, Connecticut and in her early teens she move to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Most recently Joan moved with her daughters to Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the former William Penn High School and later went on to graduate from Head Hunters Academy of Cosmetology. Joan worked for the PA House of Representatives and retired in 2003. As a member of Harris A.M.E. Zion Church she was a church stewardess and a member of the missionary society. She leaves to remember her life and cherish their memories her two sons, Wayne Thomas of Atlanta, GA, Samuel (Junnie) Manning II of Harrisburg, two daughters, Michelle and Akiah Thomas of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Helen, Elizabeth (Betty) and Shirley Moore, all of Harrisburg; three brothers, Donald Moore Sr. of Los Angeles, CA, William and Eugene Moore of Detroit, MI; two foster daughters, Shirley Ragland and Ebony Rogers of Harrisburg; one stepson James Thomas of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Jessica, Iesha, Samuel III, Jireh and Lyniese; a goddaughter Angel Hicks of Harrisburg; and a host of relatives and friends. Services will be held in the Hooper Memorial Home Inc. Saturday October 25th at 11AM with viewing at 10.
