Jessie Ree Brown was granted her mansion in the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father on Friday, February 18, 2011. Jessie Ree Brown was born in New Castle, PA on May 10, 1923 to the late Warren Stephens, Sr. and the late Matte Johnson Stephens. She received her education in Laurens, South Carolina in the public school system. She later moved to Harrisburg, PA in 1941, and married Samuel Brown in 1955. In 1959 together they joined Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church. She served the Lord well as a faithful member for many years until her health began to fail her. She belonged to the Seniors Citizens Club of Goodwin Memorial Church. She enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed gardening and caring for her house plants. She especially took great pleasure in shopping for fashion and her hats. Jessie was a devoted Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and Great grandmother to all who will fondly miss her. She was pre-deceased by her husband Samuel Brown, her brothers Donald Stephens and Warren Stephens, her sisters Bessie Cunningham, Mamie Garlington, and her grandson Brian Garlington. Jessie leaves to forever cherish her memory: Richard C. Garlington, Sr. her nephew but was reared as her loving Son, her daughter-in-law Barbara A. Garlington, her grandchildren Richard Garlington, Jr., Jodie Garlington-Madden (Delmar) both from Harrisburg, PA, Lance Garlington (Stacy), of Rockford, IL, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at her church on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, 2447 Green Street, Harrisburg at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
