Jeffrey W. Simms, Age 69, passed peacefully on September 12, 2014 at his home in Harrisburg, PA. Son of the late Charles W Simms and Vivian Holmes Simms, Jeffrey was born on Oct 10th, 1944 in Harrisburg, PA. His sister Margo Simms Scott McDonald preceded him in death. Jeff retired with over 23 years of dedicated service from the Commonwealth of PA, the Department of Labor and Industry as a Compliance Specialist and also held the position Chief of Equal Employment Opportunity Division and also Systems Analyst and Account Manager. He was a disabled Vietnam Veteran of the US Air Force, holding the position of E4 Sharp Shooter Marksman. Jeff was a graduate of John Harris High School, Amarillo Military Business School and Thompson Institute. Jeff was a warm and compassionate man, a mentor for disabled children and a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church. He was also a life member of the VFW post 3540, the VFW post 710, the American Legion post 420, the Hunters and Anglers Club of Harrisburg, the Am Vets post 286 and the North American Hunting Association. Jeff was an ATF Agent, an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman with an envious collection of hunted game. He was also a dog trainer and a baseball umpire for the young people of the city of the Harrisburg's pony league, little league, teener league and twilight ball. Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed and leaves to celebrate his life in memory his two children T. M. Simms and companion, Amy Stough of Harrisburg and Londyn Simms Rollins and husband, Kirt Rollins of Owings Mills, MD, one brother, Charles Michael Simms of New York City, two sisters, Sandra Simms Williams of Boca Raton, FL and Rhonda Marie Simms of Manassas, VA, five grandchildren Jordan Stark, Taem Simms, Taj Simms, Jordyn Rollins and Kyle Rollins; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Our beloved "J" will be sadly missed by a multitude of loving friends and extended family. His sense of humor, stories, jokes, sayings such as "If you don't know, ask somebody", hospitality, and love will stay in our hearts forever.
