Jannie Lucille Gunn, more affectionately known as "Boona" born January 8,1939, was called home to her heavenly Father, December 11, 2023. Born at the end of the depression era, Jannie was the seventh child and fifth daughter of the blended family born to Naomi and John Lane.

As the oldest daughter born to John and Naomi, Jannie completed her schooling at the University of the State of New York and furthered her education at Bryant & Stratton Business Institute, The Palmer School of Harrisburg PA for Business Administration Management, Lemoyne College for Criminal Law, American Institute for Paralegal Studies, and Onondaga Community obtaining her Associate Degree in Business. Jannie earned her title as a Paralegal/Law Assistant in 1984. She also graduated from Women's Entrepreneurs of Baltimore in 1999 for creating a Self-Employment Assistance Program called MEDIPAY Solutions.

Jannie had a successful career in the Administrative Field working for several companies such as the New York State Unified Court System, Clark Resources of Harrisburg PA, Parks and People of Baltimore City, Department of the United States Air Force and the recruiting service for the United States Marine Corps. She happily retired as a Claims Medical Examiner with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Aunt Boona was a great philanthropist advocating for her community by volunteering as Rape Crisis Center Counselor of Syracuse New York and a dedicated volunteer at Pheasant Hill Estates - the senior living community of her peers. She received many awards for participating in their Meals on Wheels Program, undertaking the lead for their monthly club house activities and being a travel support for seniors who didn't have transportation. She devoted time with the Disabled American Veterans and was awarded for her steadfast loyalty to our American Heroes. Jan loved to play BINGO, complete puzzles and shared her love for music - specifically Jazz. She dedicated many hours to help family build businesses, support political campaigns, and as the family Matriarch, built strong values and historical roots.

On Monday morning, December 11, 2023, The Lord gently took Jannie into His Loving Arms to enter the realm of eternal peace. Not only is she now in the presence of the Jesus, but also with her loved ones who have journeyed on before her. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Dixie Rose-Mae Cunningham and her siblings Johnny B., William, Charles, Gladys, Dorthy, Yvonne, Shirley, Mary, and Joyce.

Jannie leaves to cherish her memories two brothers Frank Frazier (Jewel), and Ned Lane (Sarah). Three sons Robert C.
