Janice Royster

Janice Marie Royster of Harrisburg passed peacefully on December 15, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Jonas Royster and Sarah E. Hunter Royster.

Janice was an active member of The Salvation Army Harrisburg Citadel. Her faithfulness and love of the Lord held her steadfast in her beliefs. Being true to herself living a healthy regimented life gave her comfort and purpose.

She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1973. Janice began her career as a Clerk at AETNA Insurance Company, where she worked from fifteen years. She then went into the Social Services industry working at The Salvation Army of Harrisburg as a Caseworker for sixteen years. It brought joy to her heart being able to work directly with those in need. Most recently she was enrolled in the AARP SCSEP program and worked par-time at the Pennsylvania Human Relations Services. Her entire career was in dedication to serving others.

Janice was a loving person. Being shy and reserved did not hamper her success. Her innocence and caring drew adults and children to her allowing her to be a mentor and a teacher. She truly loved spending time with her family and absolutely adored her nephews, she had a very strong bond with her young nieces as well. It was her joy taking them to the movies or lunch or just having a good time laughing, playing fun games at home. Traveling was another one of her passions, from going to the beach, taking family vacations to numerous bus trips she would go on every chance she could. She possessed and exhibited old-fashion and frugal values that made her the person we all so dearly loved and will greatly be missed.
