Janette Woodyard

Janette (Janet) Louise Sweeney Woodyard, 82, of York, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Manor Care South, York, PA. She was born in York on March 22, 1931 to the late Lawrence and Pauline (Smith) Sweeney. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Woodyard; her brothers Warren, Arthur, David, and Lawrence Sweeney; and her sisters, Nettie Miller and Eva Weedon.

Janette graduated from William Penn Senior High School and was involved in a variety of trades before she retired. She enjoyed using her sewing, upholstering, renovating furniture and interior decorating skills to turn "trash into treasures." Janette loved combing through yard sales and thrift stores for her projects. This led to her volunteering with the Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary.   She also

Janette is survived by her brother, Harold Sweeney, of York; son, Louis Woodyard, Jr., of York; daughters Debi (Wes) Johnson and Monica Woodyard of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, Robert Addison, Amanda and Ericka Bryant and Kayla Eaton of York; Elisha Jackson of Atlanta; Stephen-Lawrence, D'ani, and Daniel-Clayton Johnson, Israel Sexton and Imani Woodyard of Harrisburg; 13 great-grandchildren, a beloved cousin, Charlotte Gambrill, a devoted niece, Bernadette (James) Wilson, steadfast friends, Vivian Garnett and Annabelle DeHoff, of York, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In honoring Janette's request, there will be no public services. Private arrangements have been entrusted to Hooper Memorial Home.
