"When I come to the end of my journey and traveled my last weary mile." James W. Ray Sr., 76 of Steelton, passed peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Golden Living Center of Harrisburg. Jimmy as he was known; was the son of the late William and Eddie Ray; he attended New Castle High School and Riverside United Methodist Church, served in the US Army and Navy and retired as an engineer from # 542 Engineers. Jimmy enjoyed watching westerns, playing cards but also loved music, especially playing in Los Angeles and Vegas. He is survived by his wife Lucille A. Ray, children; Anthony Hampton of VA, Valerie Ray of Philadelphia, James W. Ray Jr. and William Ray of Harrisburg, Denise Ray of VA, Sonja Wright of Steelton, Ingrid Hughes of Harrisburg, James W. Ray II also of VA, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held in his church, Riverside United Methodist, 3200 N. 3rd Street, Harrisburg on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., viewing at 9:30 a.m., with burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Hooper Memorial Home is caring for and handling Mr. Ray's arrangements.
