James L. Carter, 83, of Harrisburg, passed peacefully on Tuesday March 22, 2011 in Harrisburg Hospital. He was the son of the late Lewis and Betty Lou Carter, attended school in Donora, PA and served in the US Army. James was a steelworker and later retired from Schlesinger's as a truck driver. He is also preceded in death by his siblings Glenn Carter, Priscilla Marshall Bennett, Clare Steele Turnago and Alfreda Howard. James leaves to cherish his life his sisters, Edna Bagley, Virginia Mosley and Lue (Rudy) Bethel. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa" to Mekeya, Marnnie and Nashell Patterson all of Harrisburg, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
