James Allen Thomas

James A. Thomas, a beloved member of our family and a distinguished veteran left us on 01/31/2025; along with his 10-yr old son, Samuel James Lavelle Thomas, and (Wife, Tracey Thomas).

James Allen Thomas was born on 10/31/1961 to Sarah Thomas, and William Davis, both of Chicago, Illinois. He attended Manley High in Chicago, Illinois, and was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. James tested many facets of life before abruptly joining the Armed Forces at the age of 18. It was there, he grew up with a deep sense of duty and patriotism, which led him to serve his country with honor and distinction bravely for 20+ years, including significant deployments such as Desert Storm/Saudi Arabia and many others in Germany.

In Germany, he met and married his first wife Heike Thomas. They finally settled in Colorado Springs, Co., with her son Steven. Later, Jim met and married Tracey Thomas, also from Colorado Springs, Co.

After retiring from the military, Jim continued to serve his community in various capacities. He worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections, always striving to make a positive impact. As a result of this, he was featured on the reality TV SHOW Lock-UP.

He leaves to mourn, his mother, Sarah Cook of Harrisburg, PA., stepson Steven Miebert, two stepdaughters of Colorado Springs, CO, brother Samuel Broyles (Dorothy Broyles), of Harrisburg, PA, and sister Opal Black, also of Harrisburg, PA. Nieces, Chrishonda Ford (Robert Ford - Ohio), and Latasha Shepherd (Jimmy Shepherd-Ohio). His cousin-brothers; Milton Ivy, and Brian Thomas and a host family and friends.

His family cherishes the memory of a loving son, brother, and a devoted dad-stepdad, uncle grandfather (Annalise), and friend. His legacy of service, kindness, family, and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him, and fortunate enough to learn from him. He was a kind soul. 

Mr. Thomas's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 at Hooper Memorial Home in the Walter Hooper Memorial Chapel. 

Family reception will start at 10:30 am followed by services starting at 11:00 am. 

Mr. Thomas burial service will beheld at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 1:30pm
