Isaac F. Mitchell

Isaac F. Mitchell Jr., born on April 19, 1944, to the late Isaac F. Mitchell and Esther G. Mitchell in Baltimore, MD, slipped away quietly on June 3, 2024.

Ike, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where he attended Baltimore City College and developed a love for baseball. After high school, Ike enlisted in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. Following his discharge, he held many jobs including positions at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Greyhound, and the Defense Logistics Agency in Harrisburg, PA.

He had a great love for art, music, photography, and singing, but he truly enjoyed spending time with his Baltimore and Pennsylvania American Legion and VFW family. Throughout his life, he showed nothing but love, kindness, and respect to everyone he encountered. Ike was one of a kind; to know him was to love him.

Ike was preceded in death by his lifelong partner Rosalind Brooks, two children James Dix (son) and Tatia Mitchell (daughter), two brothers Earl Mitchell and Dennis Logan, and one granddaughter Tiana Johnson.

Isaac leaves to celebrate his life: one son Raymond Brooks (Karen), one brother Vernon Mitchell (Debbie), six grandchildren: Jermaine, Tatia, Valerie, Phillip, Johnelle (Martin), and Jasmine, eight great-grandchildren: Malik, Lil Jermaine, Justis, Grayson, Jy’zell, Ashton, Koda, and soon-to-be-born baby Isaac, one daughter-in-law Lisa, close friends: Nolan, Lenny, Linwood, the 733 Crew, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
