Henry Nelson Walker, Jr. was born on Saturday, January 15, 1949, in Harrisburg, PA to the late Henry Nelson Walker, Sr. and the late Mary Walker (nee Jones). A proud Veteran with a deep love for his country, Henry was also an Artist, a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, and a lover of jazz music. Henry loved his twin daughters Ava and Avis that he affectionately called “my babies”.
Henry was raised in Harrisburg, PA, where he resided for his entire life. Henry graduated from William Penn High School class of 1968, in Harrisburg, PA, there
after he joined the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam Era of 1968 – 1978. Henry was employed with the U.S. Postal Office for 23 years. Henry was a bit of a comedian, loved to laugh and was always smiling, He was very popular and had many, many friends.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Henry peacefully transitioned into eternal life in his home in Harrisburg, PA at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 7 days. Henry was preceded in death by his brothers Clay Grant and Kerry Walker, and a stepson Elijah Danner.
Henry leaves behind a legacy of precious and irreplaceable memories that will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of 22 years, Janice Walker, of Harrisburg,
PA. His siblings, Guinevere “Janine” Jones, Bryan Walker, and Nadine Walker, all residing in Harrisburg, PA, will remember him fondly. His twin daughters, Ava Marie
Newsome of Harrisburg, PA, and Avis Diane Newsome-Rivera (Emmanuel “Maney”) of
Enola, PA, will carry his memory in their hearts. His grandson’s, Emmanuel Ja’Khai “E.J.” Rivera, Jayden Manuel Rivera, and Ayden Anthony Newsome, stepson Victor Danner of Harrisburg, PA, and step granddaughters Victoria Danner and Jasmine Danner, along with a host of other relatives and countless friends, will miss
him dearly.
