Gertrude Freeman 83, of Harrisburg passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Saturday, January 20, 2007. She was born March 31, 1923 in Hawkinsville, GA, was the eldest of seven children born to the later Monroe and Jerutha (William) Bembry. She was the widow of Zebedee Pitts Freeman, Sr. Gertrude retired from the former Camp Hill Nursing Home, with over 20 years of service, and was a member of Bethel Village A.M.E. Church, with over 60 years of dedicated and faithful service. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy J. Scott of Harrisburg; two sisters, Golda Mae Bell and Beatrice Wilson of Rochester, NY; one grandson, Brandon K. Scott of Harrisburg; and two great grandchildren, Zinnia and Elijah of Harrisburg along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her son, Zebedee Pitts Freeman, Jr.; a sister, Maggie Bell; and three brothers, Glenmore, Franklin, and Hosea Bembry. Viewing will be at her church on Thursday, January 25, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., until time of service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Martin O. Odom officiating.
