Flossie Evelyn Whitfield Jeffers was born in Mebane, North Carolina on October 8, 1928. Her parents Bruce and Sarah Whitfield were very spiritual and raised Flossie and her siblings in the church. She gave her life to the Lord as a young lady and remained faithful. She departed this life on December 12, 2014. She was educated in the Caswell County School District where she received her high school diploma. After graduation, she was accepted and attended the Duke University Hospital School of Nursing at a time when blacks were not able to attend the college but were allowed to train at the University Hospital. She graduated in May of 1951, passed the state boards and began her career as a LPN. After moving to Baltimore, MD she was fortunate to work at hospitals such as Johns Hopkins, Sinai, and finally at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Hospital were she retired. She married Mins Declemia Jeffers on June 7, 1952, They were very close throughout their marriage until his death in 1996. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Costello Jeffers, wife Maxine, of Randallstown, MD and a daughter Vivian Diane Wilbourn, husband Earl Sr. of Harrisburg, PA. Two sisters Margaret Jones of Charles County, MD and Wyonia Webb of Prince Georges County, MD. Grandchildren Kalia Sullivan, husband Aaron, of Atlanta, GA, Michael Chandler Jr., wife Tania of Harrisburg, PA. Aaron Jeffers of Randallstown, MD. Shelby Chandler and Tyler Chandler of Harrisburg, PA. Marcus Chandler and Ashley Chandler of Salters, SC. In addition, Earl Wilbourn Jr and Delonne Wilbourn, wife Lauren both of Harrisburg, PA. She also leaves 14 ½ great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Flossie was kind and caring. She enjoyed cooking and nurturing her family. She spent her life surrounded by love and giving love to others. She fought cancer three times. She didn't lose her battle to cancer, but won the victory in Christ Jesus. She will be dearly missed.
