Florine Joppy

Florine (Sneed) Joppy, 69, of Harrisburg, PA, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Holy Spirit Hospital. She was born July 6, 1944 in Grand Junction, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Mary (Tomlinson) Sneed. She graduated from Susquehanna Township Senior High School in 1964. Florine (affectionately known as Flo) enjoyed fashion, home decorating, horseback riding, sewing, cooking, shopping, teaching Sunday School and singing.  The viewing will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, 1830 N. Fifth Street, Harrisburg, PA with services immediately following.  Interment will be held at East Harrisburg Cemetery. She was a member of Faith Chapel Church of God in Christ where she served as a Mother of the church, Sunday School teacher and sang on the choir. She also fellowshipped with First Spirit Filled Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of her son, Bishop Dwight E. Joppy, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Terrell Johnson; a brother, Eugene Sneed; and sister-in-law, Connie Sneed.  She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving, caring, compassionate, and devoted husband Alphonso; three sons: Bishop Dwight Joppy, Sr. (Shelia) of Harrisburg, PA; Derrell Joppy (Delphine) of Chesapeake, VA; Douglas Joppy (Nicole) of Durham, NC; one goddaughter, Janita Johnson of Harrisburg, PA; five sisters: Vera Grimes (Asa) of Silver Spring, MD, Shelley Kaloko (Jimmy McErlean), Ann Sneed (Chris Harris), Lois Sneed-Jackson (Brian),  and Tracey Lewis (Gary) all of Harrisburg, PA; two brothers: Terry Sneed and Robert Sneed, both of Harrisburg, PA; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
