Evelyn Emma Goode, 73, the eldest daughter of 4, was born to the late Henry and Blanch Kennedy on March 12, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York. In her early years, Evelyn enjoyed sewing and going to the movies, she graduated from Clara Barton High School in New York in 1953. She later met and was united in holy matrimony to Johnnie L. Goode, from this union two children were born, a son, Roland M. Goode and a daughter, DeBora A. Smith all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Evelyn lovingly known as "Sis" moved to Harrisburg in 1994 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She retired from Hecht's Department Store as a Sales Associate, she was a volunteer for the Senior Citizen Center, she loved plants, ice skating and crossword puzzles. Evelyn was a strong woman, she was reserved in her demeanor, but to her grandchildren she was "G" Mom, because they were her joy.
She leaves to celebrate her life and memory, her children, Roland M. Goode and DeBora A. (Stephen) Smith, one sister, Mildred Parris of New York, 7 grandchildren; Stephen and Dorian Smith of Harrisburg, Nicole, Roland, Kaliff, Keyonda all of New York and Danielle of Philadelphia, 9 great-grandchildren; Jalik, Sanai, Chance, Dorian II, Zion, Elijah all of Harrisburg, Marques, Julissa of New York and Maurice of Philadelphia, 2 devoted god-daughters, Paulina Marshall and Marilyn Bowers, along with a host of relatives and friends.
