Virginia Clivia Colston-Payne passed peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Harrisburg Hospital in her 91st year. The daughter of the late Fredrick and Ezola Colston, she retired from the Dauphin County Home & Hospital with 25 years of service. Mrs. Payne was dedicated to the Lord and a faithful member of Christ Gospel Temple Apostolic Church serving as a Missionary President, Overseer of the Church after the former Pastor was called to be with the Lord, President and Vice President of the Missionary Board, Vice President of the Federation Auxiliary, member of the Tract Ministry and Trustee. She was also a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Steelton and a member of the Missionary Choir. Mrs. Payne leaves to celebrate her life and memory 6 children; Virginia L. Rieves, John F. Payne, Shirley J. Travis, Margaret L. Fuller, Samuel G. Payne all of Harrisburg and Michael S. Payne of Southern Calif., 33 grandchildren, two grandchildren whom she helped raised Darlene Crummel Manning and Shirl Payne Crummel, 44 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters Dorothy McCurdy and Helen Jean Colston both of Middletown and a host of relatives and friends. An evening viewing will be held at Hooper Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday, April 19th from 5:00- 7PM, funeral services will be held at her church, 1310 N. 24th Street, Harrisburg on Friday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m., viewing at 10:00 a.m. and burial at William Howard Day Cemetery. The Payne family greatly appreciates your love and support during their time of loss and bereavement.
